When the leaves cover the ground, it’s time to become a leaf detective to examine them up close! Kids will learn about leaves and the trees they come from, visit a mini leaf museum, and have fun making their own leaf creations with our guests from 15 Minute Field Trips.

The Providence Children’s Film Festival Jury Night returns to the Athenæum for a second night of juried films! Join us for an entertaining potpourri of the recent independent submissions to the PCFF Film Festival. Here is your chance to share your thoughts on clips of both live action and animated films. Your input will help the PCFF staff decide which films will be the very best for the 2025 festival season. Popcorn and pizza will be provided.

Meet Piper! This book-loving chipmunk is the star of the charming new picture book All the Books by Hayley and John Rocco. The gorgeous illustrations of the beautiful library in their story look very familiar as they were inspired by the Athenæum! Kids will enjoy a scavenger hunt, craft activity, reading, and refreshments and be able to pick up their own Athenæum library card, just like Piper does in the story.
