Membership Library Spotlight: Folio Seattle

The youngest organization in the Membership Libraries Group, Folio Seattle is the first membership library to be created in this country in over a century. Founded in 2014, it carries on the tradition of 19th-century athenæums in 21st-century Seattle. Join Executive Director Caroline Cumming to learn more about this sister institution. For members.

Caroline Cumming is the Executive Director of Folio: The Seattle Athenæum , a non profit membership library and cultural center located at Pike Place Market in Seattle. Passionate about words and images and the power of story to inspire people and organizations to connect and impact social change, Caroline has spent time working as a digital communications strategist, a media literacy educator, documentary film producer and curator of art programs and film festivals. A native of Ireland, she can now be found hiking the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, often stopping by mossy logs to read and write poetry. Caroline studied Computer Applications at Dublin City University and has a BA in Communications from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. She currently serves on the board of the Seattle City of Literature.
