Explore the Athenæum’s storied history, beautiful collections, and Greek Revival building!

The library offers a self-guided tour throughout the Main Level, with supplemental stops on the mezzanine and in the Reading Room. You can “check out” a tour book from the Visitor Center or follow along on your mobile device with this PDF. The primary tour should take about 25 minutes, and the supplemental points will add another 10-15.

New Athenæum members are invited to join us for regularly scheduled new member tours. For more information, please email membership@provath.org.

Private group tours for larger groups can generally be accommodated Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 5pm. They are limited to 25 people maximum and require an advance reservation.

Standard group tours offered include a History of the Library & Architecture Tour, Edgar Allan Poe at the Athenæum Tour, and Special Collections Subject Tours. Tours can also be customized based on the group’s interest.
