Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-97) was a woman filled with ideas, rich in experience, and possessed of a powerful, galloping energy that made all of her works vibrate with life.
She is best known for her political treatises: A Vindication of the Rights of Men (1790) and A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), but these works barely scratch the surface of Wollstonecraft’s literary output. She also wrote fiction, essays, letters, literary reviews, a travel memoir, and works on education.

REGISTERThe Athenæum is deeply grateful to our wonderful volunteer leaders. Please note library reading groups are not classes or courses, but rather a way for individuals to discuss readings together, guided by both expert and amateur enthusiasts. Participants should expect discussion-based, not lecture-style meetings.
