The Witching Hour
Folklorists Dr. Sara Cleto and Dr. Brittany Warman will discuss five of the different kinds of witches that appear in fairy tales. By illuminating different aspects of the figure of the witch as she appears in the Grimms’ tales, they will demonstrate the versatility, multiplicity, and power that characterizes the witch of folklore, even within a single, albeit extremely influential, collection of stories. A rich repository of education and inspiration, the witch intrigues and enchants us, inviting us to let down our hair, jump into her flames, and take a bite of her apple.
