Spider Silk in Textiles

Godley & Peers have been making textiles using the silk of the nephilia spider. Matthew Bird (Senior Critic, RISD ID) will talk about the history of the project, the two textiles that were on view at the RISD Museum, and the two other that were not.

Matthew Bird brings his professional experience as a product and exhibition designer into the classroom at RISD where he teaches design and design history. His knowledge of manufacturing techniques and materials informs his teaching and writing about design history. He also curates exhibitions that introduce design to fine-art museums and their public.
