Bibliomania

June 24, 2020

In late February, the Athenæum opened its newest exhibit, Bibliomania: Book Arts at the Providence Athenæum. It was only on view for three short weeks before the library had to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic – in the meantime, the exhibit has remained installed but unseen! Join Athenæum Reference & Special Collections Librarian Stephanie Ovoian for a virtual viewing of Bibliomania. Explore the library’s extensive and beautiful collections through the lens of five frequently asked questions. Rarely seen treasures will be highlighted, ranging from illuminated medieval manuscripts to extraordinary contemporary bindings, including works by Johann Gutenberg, William Morris, the Roycroft Press and the magnificent, complete 25-volume set of the Description de l’Egypte.
