Swan Point Walking Tour

Explore the beautiful grounds of Swan Point Cemetery while visiting the resting places of some 19th-century figures who made a significant impact on the Athenæum, including John Russell Bartlett and Anna Richmond, donor of our beloved fountain. The walking tour will cover about 1.5 miles. Expect gentle walking at an easy pace on paved surfaces. Comfortable shoes encouraged.

The tour will be guided by Kelly Perry, Director of Horticulture, Greenhouse Operations, and Educational Outreach at Swan Point Cemetery and co-hosted by Kate Wodehouse, Director of Collections and Library Services at the Providence Athenæum.

Kelly M. Perry holds the position of Director of Horticulture, Greenhouse Operations and Educational Outreach at Swan Point Cemetery, a 200-acre, active, nonsectarian garden cemetery located at 595 Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, Rhode Island. In this capacity, she is responsible for: producing the greenhouse’s annual ornamental plant material; implementing the seasonal decoration programs; caring for the arboretum and ornamental gardens; developing landscape projects; leading grounds and garden tours, workshops and lectures; and coordinating floral and plant decorations for Swan Point’s grounds and facilities.
