Each year, RISD Illustration majors spend a semester in a remarkable course called Picture and Word. For their final project each student presents a picture book: the story, illustrations, design and construction. It is a labor of love and the results are delightful. For the second year in a row, students of this course get the opportunity to share their works with young patrons of the Athenæum Children’s Library. It’s a chance to hear and see original work and learn about the creative process!
Judy Sue Goodwin Sturges and author April Prince are the guiding hands behind the Picture and Word course that has produced some of our favorite award winning authors and illustrators.
Best for ages 5+ (younger siblings welcome!). Free and open to the public.
