Literary Agents and the Biz

Sat, Mar 5, 2016 @ 11 am1:30 pm

4pm talk, 5:30pm cocktail reception

co-presented with Goat Hill Writers

Come hear two literary agents talk about their careers, the publishing industry, and what they look for in the work they represent. Gail Hochman is the president of Brandt & Hochman Literary Agents, Inc., a full-service literary agency based in New York City representing authors’ interests since 1913. She specializes in literary fiction, idea-driven non-fiction, literary memoir and children’s books. Albert LaFarge is head of the Albert LaFarge Literary Agency, founded in 2003 in association with the David Black Literary Agency, and independent since 2006. The Boston-area agency specializes in works of scholarly interest with potential appeal beyond the disciplines, but LaFarge is a generalist, and the agency represents authors’ works in a wide variety of styles, forms, and disciplines. Ample time will be allowed for questions and a cocktail reception will take place immediately after the talk.
