Policy & Pinot: Greening Rhode Island’s Energy Grid (OFFSITE)

Tue, May 17, 2016 @ 5:30 pm7:30 pm

5:30pm reception; 6-7pm program; 7pm Q&A

POLICY & PINOT, co-presented with RI Public Radio, a timely conversation series on vital issues facing our state.

PLEASE NOTE: Policy & Pinot will be held OFFSITE at Save the Bay, 100 Save The Bay Drive, in Providence. Ample parking is available.

This month’s Policy & Pinot will focus on the state of the region’s energy grid, which has undergone dramatic changes. Older oil- and coal-fired power plants are retiring, while natural gas production is increasing. State laws requiring ambitious reductions in greenhouse gas emissions have been driving the shift toward cleaner energy from the sun, wind and water. RIPR environmental reporter Ambar Espinoza moderates a conversation between Danny Musher, Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources; Abigail Anthony, Acadia Center’s director of the Grid Modernization Initiative & director of the Rhode Island office; and Mary Louise Nuara, ISO New England’s external affairs representative for Connecticut and Rhode Island. We’ll talk with our guest panelists about what the future grid could look like, how greener energy may impact consumers, and how Rhode Island’s progress compares to other states.

Free and open to the public, reservations required. To reserve, contact Jed Thorp, jed@ripr.org or 401-351-2800.
