This month, our dear friends Sparky and her puppets will delight us with her light and springy spin on some classic tales. mCome and spend the morning with Little Red riding Hood, The Little Red Hen, The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man. Mother Goose will introduce the stories and share some of her favorite rhymes as well.

The Providence Athenaeum and Providence Children’s Museum have been proud partners in the presentation of a spring series of panel discussions about the critical importance of self-directed play for children’s healthy growth and development. Our final discussion for the season: Play and Risk: How Safe is too safe? Acceptable risk is beneficial; to kids’ physical and emotional development, so when did it become a four letter word?
Learn about their own capabilities and limits while increasing their comfort with making mistakes and taking on challenges. Discuss ways to foster healthy risk taking in kids’ play.
This month our panelists are; Dr. William Hollinshead, pediatrician; Wendy Nilsson: Director, Partnership for Providence Parks; and Sarah O’Brien, USCW, Play Therapist.
